Adding Source Code Tables can be useful as it enables you to keep track of where your bookings are coming from. Sources are usually marketing channels, e.g. trade show or website. Adding them to reservations enables you to pull reports on where your bookings, how many bednights are secured through specific sources and you can analyze which are your most lucrative channels.
Sources can be added during reservation creation or at a later stage on the reservations details tab.
Source is not linked to Google analytics in any way and its value is derived from correct and diligent data capture.
For more about how to create Source codes in your system, add them on reservations and watch this video tutorial:
In order to set up, edit or delete Sources, navigate to Admin > Setup > Code tables > Other > Source.
Field | Description | Notes |
Name | Describe the channel through which the reservation was sourced. | e.g. Trade show. |
Abbreviation | Add an understandable abbreviation. | e.g. TS |
Description | Describe in further detail the channel through which the reservation came. | e.g. The Indaba trade show that Robyn attended. Optional addition. |
Colour | Choose a colour to allocate to the Source for easy and quick reference. | Optional addition. |
If you edit the Source name this change will automatically update wherever it has been used in the system
If the Source is already used in a system it cannot be deleted and will still apply to existing rates and will instead be converted to inactive. The Source will remain in the list but will be identified as inactive in the Inactive column and won’t be available for any future bookings.
