Use a Point of Sale system

Use a Point of Sales system to easily manage your sales and stock. A POS system performs many functions including inventory management: stock control and reordering as well as recording sales: transactions, price control and management.

A POS system can be used at front-of-house areas such as the bar and curio shops and back-of-house areas such as kitchen and housekeeping. Managing these areas becomes automated as you can use the POS system to charge transactions to guest accounts, prepare order notifications, post to accounting systems and produce business reports showing sales trends, price discrepancies and profits.

Mapping POS and ResRequest

POS charges are sent to ResRequest via the interface and appear on the relevant bookings as Extras. First these Extras need to be created in ResRequest as Extra code items and then they are mapped to the POS terminals when the interface is set up. One Extra category is set up per POS terminal – if there is a terminal at the bar and another at the spa, then two Extras would be set up, e.g. ‘POS Bar’ and ‘POS Spa’.

Working with a POS system and ResRequest

Guest’s charges incurred at the lodge, e.g. drinks, chargeable meals, curio items, are initially recorded in the POS system. This ensures that your sales don’t have to be entered into ResRequest manually. The interface enables charges to be imported into ResRequest and will appear on the guest’s booking as Extras. POS charges are linked to a guest’s room number, so guests must be roomed for the POS record to be processed. A new folio, editable only on the Property server, will be created on the booking which you may use to invoice the guest during their stay or upon check-out. Any other extra charges recorded on the Property server will be added automatically to this folio.
