Record POS payments for cash sales automatically in ResRequest
Version 7.34.0 and up
Posted on 7 September 2021
POS (Point Of Sale) Cash Sales, sometimes referred to as Outlet Sales, is a sale that is settled at a POS device / location, i.e. the transaction is not posted to a room or a guest. Our POS integration allows the set up of these cash sales to automatically be recorded in ResRequest.
Once recorded in ResRequest, they are included in ResRequest’s Financial Interface batches. The accounts team sends these transaction batches to the General Ledger at month-end.
In this release, we have extended our POS integration so in addition to cash sales, payments taken at a POS location, for cash sales, are automatically recorded in ResRequest.
Recording payments on cash sales automatically will reduce the workload on front-of-house teams, and make it a breeze to reconcile POS payments during the end-of-day cash-up.
More enhancements include recording part payments on POS room charges. This means if a guest chooses to settle their POS bill partly in cash, and partly on their room tab, both will be recorded on the folio in ResRequest. When the guest checks out, they will only be required to pay the outstanding balance.
Encourage long term bookings with Minimum Length of Stay
Version 7.34.0 and up
Posted on 7 September 2021
Minimum length of stay (MinLOS) refers to forcing a user to book a specified number of nights in order to confirm their reservation. An advantage of implementing a MinLOS strategy is that it allows hotels to develop a relatively even occupancy pattern. This is especially appealing during peak occupancy periods, and as an effective way to encourage guests to stay longer.
Our new MinLOS feature introduces the capability for you to set up and manage these rules over a specified time period, for a minimum number of nights. This release introduces this functionality when making bookings in ResRequest, and it will be extended to our API and booking channels in a future release.

More flexibility in POS mapping
Version 7.34.0 and up
Posted on 7 September 2021
For customers using our POS (Point Of Sale) integration, we have added enhancements that make it quicker to set up POS Mapping in ResRequest. Features also provide more detailed POS information which makes it easy-to-reconcile POS reports and presents easy-to-read descriptions on customer invoices at checkout.
These enhancements include:
- A POS toggle on the Extra Category Code Table. Only items that belong to a POS category are available for mapping as POS Sales Items.
- The Environment Setup Code Table shows which properties are linked to any particular property environment. Check-in to a property can only be performed in the environment to which the property is linked.
If you are already using POS integration, your existing data setup will be automatically converted to the new structure.
More details on the changes to POS mapping are available on our Learn Online site.
Block Bookings
Version 7.34.0 and up
Posted on 7 September 2021
Block Bookings allow hotels to pre-book a large volume of bookings, with set departures and itineraries, based on commercially negotiated contracts with agents.
We have added block booking enhancements to simplify the setup of Block Templates and to make it easier to select and work with blocks.
Features now available in Block Bookings are:
- Users tend to create block reservations with the block template name as a prefix. To streamline the process we are now automatically populating the reservation name with that prefix.
- If a user group has ‘Allocation expiry date’ checked in the Reservation restrictions > Allow overrides section, then when creating a block reservation those users are able to select block dates that have already expired.
- Access to the Allocations screen on the Agent role popup is now controlled by a new access control function called ‘Contact Agent Role: Allocations’. This means that only authorised users will be able to view and edit allocation details.
- The Allocations list includes an Audit Trail option which lists the history of edits performed on the Block Allocation.
- The Financial Analysis reports (both Folio and Day) provides:
- Allocation Drawdown as a grouping level. This will separate Block booking output rows into Drawn down or Not drawn down.
- New output fields for: Block number, Block name, Allocation number, and Allocation name.
