How to check your server
Introduction
All ResRequest clients are hosted over different servers for convenience and load balancing purposes. Scheduled maintenance or unplanned disruptions on our servers will be displayed on social media or other direct methods. This means it is vital to know what server your system in on as server maintenance may affect you. Take a look at the instructions below on how to easily identify what server you’re on.
Windows
To do the check on windows, follow these steps:
- To open the windows command prompt, type ‘cmd’ into the start search bar or press the windows button and R together, a run window popup will appear, type ‘cmd’ and press ‘enter’.
- The command prompt will open as a black box
- Type ‘ nslookup’ followed by your ResRequest URL: ‘ nslookup example.resrequest.com’
- ‘example.resrequest.com’ is your ResRequest system login URL e.g. welcome.resrequest.com

The server your ResRequest system is hosted on will be located under the ‘Name’ field. In the example above, the server name is 200-za.resrequest.net. The number indicates your server, in this case the server is 200.
Mac
To do the check on Mac, follow these steps:
- To open the Mac terminal, use the search function and search for the word ‘Terminal’
- The command prompt will open as a black box
- Type ‘ nslookup’ followed by your ResRequest URL: ‘ nslookup example.resrequest.com’
- ‘example.resrequest.com’ is your ResRequest system login URL e.g. welcome.resrequest.com
